Bhrigu Lake Trek
Bhrigu Lake is a glacial lake located at an altitude of 14,100 feet in the Pir Panjal ranges of the Manali region, Kullu district, Himachal Pradesh. The lake holds immense religious significance and, as per folklore, is believed to be the meditation ground of the Hindu sage Bhrigu Rishi, who spent many years meditating by the lake. Due to this belief, the lake is considered sacred by locals and people from nearby regions.
This region also serves as a pasture for shepherds (Gaddis) who use these routes to move their cattle to higher grazing grounds. The first campsite, Rao Ki Kholi, is surrounded by mountains and offers beautiful views of Solang Valley, Beas Kund, and the Dhauladhar ranges. Peaks visible during the trek include Hanuman Tibba, Friendship Peak, Ladakhi Peak, and Chhetidhar.
The trail ascends through endless meadows and eventually leads into a rocky boulder zone that must be crossed carefully. Another campsite, Pandu Ropa, is locally believed to be a farming ground used by the Pandavas during their exile. This short trek makes for a perfect weekend getaway for thrill seekers and nature lovers.
Mid-June to Mid-October
The trek can be challenging during the rainy season but is doable within this period.
